Virgin Forest Exploration & Production Limited has completed the first phase of its Community Development Programme in Rivers State, delivering infrastructure improvements and skills training to over 300 beneficiaries across three host communities.
The programme, which ran over a six-month period, included the rehabilitation of a primary health centre, the provision of clean water facilities in two communities, and a vocational skills training initiative focused on welding, electrical installation, and small business development.
"Our success as a company is directly linked to the wellbeing of the communities where we operate," said the company's Chairman, Johnson Chukwu. "We are committed to ensuring that our presence creates lasting, tangible benefits for our host communities."
The second phase of the programme, planned for later in 2026, will focus on secondary education support and agricultural development initiatives. Virgin Forest E&P has allocated a dedicated budget for community development as part of its annual operating plan, consistent with its obligations under the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act.
